I love a good denim dress, like jeans, it can be one of the most versatile pieces in your wardrobe. You can wear it solo, or layer up with teeshirts and jackets for a relaxed transeasonal look. There was a time when I had three or four different denim dresses on rotation, but I decided to re-home them in my last wardrobe clear out.
Lucky finds and vintage gold
I was after this Topshop dress for the longest amount of time! I tried to but it online a few months ago but it was already sold out. I ended up completely forgetting about it until I was in London last month and I found the last one looking lonely on a rail. Not only was it the last one, but it was my size! I’m sure it was fate! It’s a light cotton fabric that makes it perfect for warm weather and I love the oversized button detail, which gives it a retro feel. I layered it with a striped H&M crop.
And of course, you know by now that it is virtually impossible for me to put together a high street outfit without a bit of vintage. The boots were essential in stopping the whole outfit looking too cutesy and girly. The are vintage Chloé knee highs and by far one of my best ever vintage buys! I bought them nearly 10 years ago from an amazing vintage shop in Paris’ 11° arrondissement. I styled them in a completely different way last year for my baby shower
The straw bag was a present from a friend in Pernambuco, Northeast Brazil. I love the way it incorporates a current trend to the look, and with straw bags allover the high street, it’s a great feeling to know that mine an artesanal piece made just for me. 🙂 The tone of the buttons on the dress, picks up the camel from the boots and bag without being too “matchy matchy”.
On these colder days, I will be wearing this dress layered with tights and a big coat. I told you it was versatile!
